Hello there everyone. We have been hard at work making a new master server for Battlefield 2142. We are currently holding a beta test on Dethklokclan.net. If you would like to participate, head on over and register. We are hosting a dedicated server thr
I have finished building version 2.0 of the Custom Resolution Launcher for 2142 with Gameranger.
It now features a Gui, and much more n00b friendly interface. All you have to do is edit one file, and install the program!!!!! READ THE INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS FIRST, BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE PROGRAM!!!! IT'S NOT MY FAULT IF YOU INSTALL IT WRONG AND IT DOESN'T WORK! I'm in an airport right now, but as soon as I get home, I will try to make a tutorial video. Linked is the zip file containing the install instructions and the installer. Enjoy!!! As always, the source code is posted on GitHub. Url is in the readme. The first would be to write a python script that every dedicated server host would have to include in their server files that would give all the unlocks to everyone. There are a couple of problems/hurdles with that which I'm not going to go in to. The second option which we explored much more thoroughly yesterday, and what we are currently working on, is setting up a new stats server that would track stats and give everyone unlocks as they rank up. Everyone would start over, or we could potentially import all of the stats from a site like 2142-stats.com. As of yesterday, we have a semi-working version of this up and running. Right now I have a stats server running on my laptop that any dedicated server I run reports to. The main problem is that it breaks the game in several ways (and probably even more ways than we've found so far). The main reason is that the files I used to build this stat's server were created for BF2. Because of this, score tracking is broken. The stats server will track kills, deaths, flag captures, etc. but not actually increment your score. Several items unique to 2142 also break the game (walkers, silos, etc.) We hope to overcome this though. We have managed to find the files we believe we need to make it compatible with 2142 fully. Our main problems now are implementing those files with the stat's server, as well as making it compatible with Gameranger. Anyway, that's where we stand as of right now. I will post more information as it becomes available. Mando75 Some pictures of the database as proof of concept: |
